Hello Coaches,
My name is Jimmy Heard and I am the Club Director and Head Coach for East Side Water Polo. In addition, I was recently appointed as the ODP Midwest Zone Girls Co-Head Coach alongside Miguel Figueras. Outside of my responsibilities to the local area, I also serve as the Director of Events & Sport Growth for 6-8 Sports.
Co-founded by Maggie Steffens and Tony Azevedo, 6-8 Sports works to accelerate growth & exposure in water polo through a revolutionary development system that unites standardized metrics, live-game tracking & advanced data analytics (see more below under “The 6-8 System”).
I am excited to invite you and your athletes to attend a special 6-8 clinic in Chicago on October 30 & 31. The clinic sessions will include review of technical and tactical gameplay (pressure passing, driving, passing, shooting) and athletes will pass through the 6-8 Challenge skill assessment (6-8sports.com/68-challenge). After the challenge, teams will be created for scrimmages based on the skill testing results and rankings.
The clinic will be coached by Olympians and gold medalists Amanda Longan and Jamie Neushul along with Dani Jackovich, an Illinois native (Lincoln Way Central ’13), Stanford graduate/ professional athlete and Lead 6-8 Data Analyst.
Before each pool session, the coaches will run a Q&A. Additionally, there will be a photo opportunity (with the Olympic gold medals from Tokyo) following each clinic.
Additional information and formal registration will be released next week, however I encourage you to save the date and share the opportunity with your student-athletes as soon as possible.
The 6-8 System
Our Coach Technology Seminars will allow you to learn more about how the 6-8 System can benefit your club and spur more effective long-term growth.
The 6-8 system combines data collected from the 6-8 game desk and 6-8 Challenge to provide an accurate and cohesive analysis of an athlete’s strengths/ weaknesses, game IQ and overall performance.
Benefits for athletes/ parents:
-
Clearly understand strengths, weaknesses and overall performance
-
Access individual game results, statistics and analytics over time (mobile app)
-
Track progress & begin building college resumes with verified game statistics and skill test analytics
Benefits for coaches/ clubs:
-
Better understand your athletes and what specific areas they need to improve
-
Immediately see why you lost or won a game and how each athlete performed
-
Use the 6-8 standardized metrics and objective statistical reports to communicate with your athletes and parents about their progress, growth and potential
-
Create a collective dataset (footprint) of your club over time
Please check out the attached presentation for more details.
