Many coaches and athletes reduce the job of a goalie just to blocking – but that is far from the reality! Every single action of a goalie – in defense as well as in offense – has to be well thought out. The perfect positioning, appearance and communication are crucial factors to influence a game in the right direction. Avoiding a shot and forcing an opponent to think twice or decide for a weak opportunity are as valuable qualities as being “great on the goal line”. The Two Daves tournament which serves as a training tournament for new and veteran Illinois High School Association water polo officials will take place at Fenwick on Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16. Nine teams will compete including eight teams from Illinois and one team from Wisconsin.
