Started in 2013, the IWP Board of Directors is proud to offer the only scholarship of its kind in Illinois, The Dave Perry Scholarship in honor of legendary Coach Dave Perry.  Each spring, IWP will award money per student athlete per year, as determined by the Selection Committee in support of athletes attending college and playing water polo.  The program is intended to assist those aspiring boy and girl water polo athletes to pursue their dreams in College while honoring the long and storied legacy of Coach Perry.  To date, $15,000 dollars have been given in the form of scholarships to ten players from ten different high schools attend ten different Division I college and universities.
Illinois Water Polo (IWP) is a State and Federal not-for-profit 501(c)3 volunteer organization founded to support the development of water polo here in Illinois.
Our goal is to provide at least a $500 donation to the Dave Perry Scholarship. Beached Whales will plan to donate $100-$200 to this cause and appreciate any help your team chooses to provide.

Tony Azevdeo and Kami Craig’s Athletes Clinic/Combine @ Hoffman Estates High School Pool
Feb 24 @ 8:00 am – Feb 25 @ 3:15 pm
NWC and Cardinal Water Polo clubs will bring Tony Azevedo and Kami Craig to Hoffman Estates on February 24 and 25th to run a clinic and combine. This clinic is a great way to kick off the 2018 season!
Here is Tony’s vision for the clinic directly from his website:
“I have created an athlete development system to monitor athlete’s progress over time. The program is standardized in a way that allows me to use specific tools to track development and offer personal feedback. My yearly clinic system has already produced three national teams athletes, six college scholarship athletes and many others playing at top high schools. This system allows me to test athletes, teach them and engage with them directly. I am able to watch them play and provide individualized feedback on performance strengths and weaknesses. By repeating the event every six months (or twice a year) I will be able to re-evaluate the athlete, understand his/her progress and continue working with them to reach key milestones.”
Coaches are free and encouraged to attend; Tony will be working with coaches at the combine. They have requested that we have 9 volunteer coaches per day to record data and then coach a team during the combine portion of the event. If you are interested in to volunteering, please email Marc Popovici at [email protected].
